Although the original tumor was removed by surgery and radiation, the cancer spread to his hip and lymph nodes. He is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in New York.

How to keep food alive in a survival situation

The best way to preserve food in a long-term emergency is by drying it. Drying food helps preserve them for longer. It also decreases the risk of bacteria growth.

Dried fruits are great for snacking on during an emergency because they don't require any preparation. They are portable and can be taken with you wherever you go.

While you can dry fruit at your home using a dehydrator and a sun oven, it's much more convenient to do so in a commercial setting. You can dry almost any food with a solar oven, including meat, fish and vegetables.
