How to prepare for SHTF

build a simple shelter

Taking the time to prepare for SHTF is a great way to be ready for an emergency. This is a great opportunity to improve your skills in self-defense and medical procedures. While you are at it, make sure you have all the supplies that you might need in case you get into an emergency.

It is possible to prepare for the worst scenario by moving to another location or getting a bugout site. It's important to think about the needs of your loved ones and how you may be affected by the event. You may decide not to rely on the authorities for safety and security.

A plan of action is the first thing you should do. There are many ways to go about planning a strategy, and it's important to have a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve. You can seek professional guidance if you are unsure what to do.

There are many SHTF scenarios. A good example of this scenario is Hurricane Katrina. The storm left most of the Gulf Coast without power, basic services, and for days. An even more dire SHTF scenario could include nuclear fallout or a pandemic or massive wildfire. There's no guarantee that any of these scenarios will happen, but it's smart to be prepared for the possible.

It is a good idea to have stockpiled supplies especially during flu season. Stockpiling your supplies will not only ensure you don't run low on medicine, but also provide some safety net in the event you are sick. Aside from stockpiling your basic supplies, you should also consider how you'll get from one point to another. There are many miles you may have to cover, so you need a vehicle capable of getting you there.

The other obvious - and more important - way to prepare for SHTF is to learn about and practice new skills. You have many options online, but local community colleges can also teach you about a range of subjects. You will be able to survive a SHTF event with some of these more relevant than others.

Preparing for an emergency is exciting. The hardest part of prepping? Choosing how to execute your plan. If you don’t have an emergency preparedness kit, it’s worth buying one. Make sure your kit is functional and in good condition. If you plan on using it, ensure that it's functional, clean and oiled. This will allow you to avoid making the most common error when it comes time to prepare for a catastrophe.

The most important thing to remember is that a plan is the best way to prepare for SHTF. As you are doing this, you should learn about other things that you may need to make it through a disruption to your daily routine.

How to build a fish trap for survival

A fishtrap is a device to catch fish. It is composed two parallel bars (the "trays"), which form a funnel shape. The water flows through one trap end. Water collects at its bottom in the first tray. This causes the water to rise. As the water rises higher, it falls through the second bar, allowing the trapped fish to swim out.

Fish traps have been around since ancient times and were originally used to catch salmon. They are still useful today, but can also be used for catching freshwater catfishes like carp or bass.

If you have a large enough fish pond, you can make your own trap. You'll want to use some kind of material to line the inside of the trap. A commercial fish trap kits can be bought online if you don’t have much space. These kits usually come with everything you need except for the materials to construct the trap itself.

If you do decide to make your own fish trap, here are some things to keep in mind when building it:

  • You must ensure that the sides of the trap do not give way to water.
  • So that the sun warms the water, choose a spot with plenty of sunshine.
  • Smooth surfaces like stone or concrete are best for trap bottoms. Sand and gravel particles will gravitate to uneven surfaces.
  • Keep the area around the trap free of debris so that there won't be any obstacles for the fish to get caught in.

After you've constructed the fishtrap, you need to place it close to the edge. Don't worry if the fish escape; leave the trap alone for a few days until they start swimming back in. You don't need to clean the trap as it should be left wet. If there are any dead fish in the pond, they can be removed later.
